As dawn appears on Vrajamandala’s horizon,
a hush before the sun’s first golden ray,

Krishna awakens to Yasoda’s loving gaze,
to begin another day of blissful play.
2a AŌer bathing, she dresses Him in yellow silk and decorates with sandalwood His bluish skin;
2b a peacock feather is tucked into His blackish hair, a new round of pastimes will soon begin.
3a
The cows and their lovely lowing sound,
Balarama and His friends awaiting near,
3b
pull Krishna from His mother’s tender arms
to meet them all with a joyful cheer.

As Govinda’s lips touch His beloved flute,
producing streams of nectar-sounds,…
4b …He leads His herd, a lively rolling tide, to Govardhan’s lush and hallowed grazing grounds.

Vrajamandala unfolds its superb splendor,
a land of radiant beauty so sweet.
5b The trees overloaded with fruits and flowers, bend down to touch Govinda’s lotus feet.
6a
The birds of every colored hue
sing songs in joyful dance and flight.
6b
A gentle breeze bears the lotus’ scent
to fill the air with pure delight.

Govinda knows each cow by name and color;
He calls them to His side one by one.
7b He embraces them and feeds them soŌ fragrant grasses; He is their dearest friend, second to none.
8a In the sun-drenched forests of Vrajamandala, Krishna and His friends enjoy their pranks.
8b They tussle, they tumble, they hide and seek, and share their meals on Yamuna’s sandy banks.
9a His flute then sings sweet melodies that charm the whole world, the entire creation.
9b
Peacocks dance in ecstasy, stones melt,
deer are stunned,
rivers flow slowly in deep meditation.
10a Their voices echo through the trees and meadows, as the boys run with their calves—a most enchanting sight!
10b A symphony of rasa in a pastime paradise, filled with laughter, from morning until night.
11a
As golden dusk begins to fade,
and day gives way to night,
11b
the cows come home, their udders full,
a sacred and most wondrous sight.
12a The dust their hooves raise forms a golden veil, covers Krishna’s face and rises to the sky.
12b Seeing their beloved soon return, the gopis release a hearƞelt sigh —and sing:

The cowherd damsels milk the surabhi cows,
draw life’s essence with loving care.
13b Radha offers Krishna a delicious feast, sweeter than nectar, and then takes Her share.
14a O Govindachandra, jewel of New Vrajamandala, Your sweet loving smile enlivnes our heart.
14b Your flute-song and Your cows’ pleasant mooing voices give each new day a blessed start.
