यस्याः श्रेयस्करं नास्ति यया निर्वृतिमाप्नुयात् ।
या साधयति मामेव भक्तिं तामेव साधयेत् ॥ ६० ॥
yasyāḥ śreyaskaraṁ nāsti yayā nirvṛtim āpnuyāt
yā sādhayati mām eva bhaktiṁ tām eva sādhayet
There is nothing more conducive to the highest good than that devotional service by which one attains complete fulfillment and which brings one to Me alone. One should cultivate that devotion exclusively.
yasyāḥ—than which; śreyas-karam—more conducive to the highest good; na asti—there is not; yayā—by which; nirvṛtim āpnuyāt—one attains complete fulfillment; yā—which; sādhayati—causes one to attain; mām eva—Me alone; bhaktim—devotion; tām eva sādhayet—one should cultivate that alone.
Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā
Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī
Here the Lord declares that prema-bhakti alone is the goal, and nothing else. Thus He says: yasyā iti… This is also stated in the Fourth Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (4.24.55) by Śiva who prays to the Lord as follows:
taṁ durārādhyam ārādhya satām api durāpayā
ekānta-bhaktyā ko vāñchet pāda-mūlaṁ vinā bahiḥ
“My dear Lord, pure devotional service is even difficult for liberated persons to discharge, but devotional service alone can satisfy You. Who will take to other processes of self-realization if he is serious about the perfection of life?”
Brahma-saṁhitā-prakāśinī
Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura
Verse 60
There is nothing more beneficial than that devotional service by which one attains complete fulfillment. Since that devotion alone enables one to attain Me, one should cultivate it exclusively.
There is no greater good for the living entity than prema-bhakti, pure loving devotional service for the Supreme Lord. In that perfected devotional service alone the living being attains supreme bliss. Only through prema-bhakti can one attain the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa. Therefore one who eagerly cultivates sādhana-bhakti with the goal of attaining prema-bhakti will surely attain that supreme perfection. Those who pursue other goals will not.
